Gold Run Retreat has a tremendous history. Built in 1982 for the CEO of Sunshine Mine, this home cost over $2,000,000 to build and was termed the Sunshine Mansion. The fireplace rocks inside the home include silver ore from the Sunshine Mine. The Sunshine Mine itself was the largest silver mine in the world and also suffered the largest loss of life tragedy from a mine fire. The home was built long after the tragedy, but falling silver prices forced the sale of the home and land. On 9.5 acres, the home looks over the Shoshone Golf Course which was once also owned by the mining company. Gold Run Retreat is named from the mountain it sits on, Gold Run Mountain.
Jim Bendis is CEO of Bendistillery, www.bendistillery.com. He purchased Gold Run Retreat in 2005 and renovated all rooms for a modern, yet cozy atmosphere. He uses the home as a getaway for himself, his boys, friends, business associates and employees. Knowing that day-to-day life can be stressful and hectic, Jim hopes you enjoy your visit.
